Ideal Weight For Italian Fashion Model?
My penpal is jobbing as model in order to finance her studies. She’s 5′ 10″ & weights 125 pounds.
She’s telling me that she can’t celebrate Christmas since she is on starvation diet & is doing contortion style pilates exercises all day long to get her waistline to 23″ as that would be a prerequisite for the model job in Italy.
Is it really true that some Italian designers insist of models to have a 23″ waistline?

She should eat RIGHT NOW!!
She is the right size.

Absolutely true. & don’t worry she wont die I’m 2 inches taller & naturally about 110 but I had to use weight gain shakes to put on 8-10 pounds for the agency I work for, ironically. Not all models starve- I had to be able to keep size 2’s up so I had to GAIN weight

Of course, they probably want her down to 110-115 if possible, though I think 125 is 10 pounds below the minimum healthy weight for a 5′10 women. Usually modelling standards want you to be about 10-20lbs below the minimum healthy weight for each height.
Though, didn’t they pass some law over there that says a model has to be above a certain Body Mass Index (BMI) because too many of them were looking anorexic.
Ah well, unfortunatly it’s a proffesion where you’re gettting paid to starve. Ironic.
